Cannons hit hardest when your ship is broadside to the target — that's how real sea battles were fought.
Islands block cannon fire on both sides — duck behind one to break an enemy's line of sight.
A gamepad (e.g. an Xbox controller) also works: left stick/D-pad to steer, A to fire, X to dock/interact, Y for the repair kit, B to fish. Enable it in ⚙️ Settings.
Buy a repair kit at the Shipyard — you can carry one at a time. Press R anywhere at sea to instantly and fully restore your hull, no port needed.
If your ship is sunk, you wash up in Port Royal at half hull. Your ship blinks for 5 seconds afterward — you're briefly invulnerable, so you always get a moment to get clear before the next fight.
Sinking a merchant ship makes you Wanted for 10 minutes, shown as a blinking red badge in the HUD. While Wanted, navy ships actively hunt you down. Otherwise, they leave you alone unless you attack one first.
Dock at the purple-flagged island to play Checkers or the Shell Game. Winning at Checkers grants gold and a 10-minute +50% gold-earning boost, shown as a green blinking badge in the HUD. The Shell Game lets you bet gold on a guess — guess right and double your bet, guess wrong and lose it all.
Buy a fishing rod and some bait from any Fish Trader (every port except Gambler's Island). Once equipped, press F anywhere at sea to cast a line — wait for the bite, then press F again at just the right moment to reel it in. Catches range from common to legendary — sell them back at any Fish Trader.
The white dot is you. Colored dots are other ships, color-coded by type. A gold ring marks a rare Elite enemy. Tan shapes are islands and ports.
🟢 Merchants never attack — safe to sail past, and good loot if you choose to plunder them anyway.
🔴 Pirates attack on sight. A moderate threat.
🔵 Navy ships hit harder than pirates.
🟣 Sea monsters are the toughest regulars — they strike at close range instead of firing cannons.
🟢 Ghost ships haunt the seas only at night.
👑 Elites are rare, named, and far stronger than normal — but drop much better rewards.
The shallow water ring around every port is a safe zone — no enemy can attack you there, whether or not you've actually docked. Sail into the ring to break off a fight.
An extremely rare, ancient sea monster far stronger than any elite. Defeating one grants a large amount of gold and XP, plus a Megalodon Tooth — sell it at any Fish Trader for 5,000⛁.
Set up a trade route between two ports from the Trade Routes tab, and it earns gold automatically, every hour, with no further input needed — even while you're not actively playing. This keeps running while the game is open, no matter what you're doing. If the game itself is closed, progress still keeps counting in the background, but only up to 12 hours — log back in within that window to collect it all, shown as a "welcome back" bonus.
The sky gradually darkens into night and back into day over about 15 minutes, with your ship's stern lantern glowing after dark — purely atmospheric, with no effect on stats. Storms are a rarer weather event: a larger, darker cloud with visible rain that slows your ship by about 10% while you're inside it. Sail clear of it to return to normal speed.
Dock at any port (E) to trade goods, upgrade your ship, hire crew, take on quests, and set up trade routes that earn gold even while you're away. Spend talent points anytime from the 🎖️ button.
The captain's log in the bottom left keeps a running record of your own exploits — battles won, treasures found, and milestones reached.
